Statement of Attainment in Anma Shiatsu

Weekend short course
Duration: 2 x 3-hour classes

This short course will give students the basic understanding of Anma Shiatsu.

  • This course is not suited for children or adults unable to exercise or who have acute conditions with pain.
  • Please wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing.
  • By appointment only, with sufficient numbers.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student receives Statement of Attainment in Anma Shiatsu.

Certificate of Anma Shiatsu

Theory online
Duration: 8 x 3-hour classes

In this course, the students will learn the art and practice of a specific style of clinical Shiatsu called Anma Shiatsu. Based on both the theory of acupressure energetics originating from Chinese medicine and massage techniques of Japanese origin, Shiatsu Anma Therapy addresses illnesses and painful conditions in the body stemming from blockages in the flow of energy, or Qi, within the acupuncture meridian (channel) system.

The curriculum covers the below topics at an introductory level:

  1. Dancing the Dao – Qigong (breathing exercise, the power of the mind)
  2. Basic Anatomy & Physiology
  3. Body Stretching
  4. Yin & Yang Theory
  5. Meridians & Acupuncture Points
  6. Shu, Tsubo & Trigger Points
  7. Five Elements
  8. Hara Points & Treatments
  9. Anma Shiatsu (running meridians with oil)
  10. Diagnosis – body shape, colours of skin, tongue & eyes, pulse
  11. Cupping & Moxa.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student receives Certificate of Anma Shiatsu and Statement of Attainment in Qigong.

Diploma of Anma Shiatsu

Theory online
In-clinic hours required (in-house)
Duration: 16 x 3-hour classes

In this course, the students will learn how to assess the body’s energy channel system with regard to deficiency and excessive states and apply appropriate techniques that restore the balance of Qi within the body. As the flow of Qi is re-established in the channel system, pain is relieved and the healing process of the body begins.

The curriculum covers the below topics at an in-depth level:

  3. Body Stretching
  4. Yin & Yang Theory
  5. Meridians & Acupuncture Points

Upon successful completion of this course, the student receives Diploma of Anma Shiatsu and Statement of Attainment in Qigong, and is eligible to apply for membership to the International Institute for Contemporary Therapists.
